Virgin America baits blogs and Digg

Link to Virgin America baits blogs and Digg

Linkbait of the day: Virgin America's guest stars.

Want to get covered by blogs? Include bloggers in an ad. Want to get dugg? Mention Kevin Rose. Never mind that the Diggnation videocast / podcast isn't really a blog. Here's the lineup:

Boing Boing; Technorati 100: #3; Alexa 2,382:

Engadget; Technorati 100: #1; Alexa 501:

Diggnation at ^Revision3; Alexa 11,812

OK, I took the bait. What are they selling? The VA Difference. Feature #1:

the first U.S. airline with mood lighting.

Hmm; can't say that's something I missed on a recent 7+ hour flight across the Atlantic. More useful: 100v power at every seat. A selection of movies is also on the list, but it's pay-per-view.

Virgin America bloggers

It will be interesting to see how much coverage Virgin gets. Meanwhile, it's yet another way for top bloggers to earn money.

Hat tip: Techmeme

Update at 3:45 pm: Though I hate to link to Valleywag, a comment on their post points to a Twitter note from Xeni Jardin:

none of us at BB received tix, miles, any form of compensation for this, nor will we.

Hmm; fame over fortune?

Alexa vs. Technorati: charting the top Shopping blogs

Link to Alexa vs. Technorati: charting the top Shopping blogs

Most of the blogs in our Shopping category on the Technorati 100 seem to fit a pattern. The chart shows one of the cleaner sets for blogs we've seen in comparing Alexa three-month rank to Technorati 100 rank.

Three blogs stand out as outliers: TechEBlog, Mac Rumors, and Autoblog. What might explain Autoblog's relatively higher traffic? Perhaps people aren't as inclined to link as they are to visit?
