NxE's fifty most influential female bloggers, plus Technorati rank

Link to NxE's fifty most influential female bloggers, plus Technorati rank

Last week, NorthxEast posted their list of the 50 most influential women bloggers. Many post at several blogs, some have left the blog where they established their influence, others have retired one or more of their blogs, and a few are known more for their work at a blog-related company rather than as a blogger. Here's a (nearly?) comprehensive list, plus Technorati rank.

We also fixed two typos from the NxE post: the correct spellings are Arianna Huffington (not Ariana) and Rebecca MacKinnon (not McKinnon).

(Thanks to Kim for most of the research behind this post and Peter for some last-minute code.)

Curious what your definition of a blog is? One of the sites you have listed for me is definitely a blog, powered by WordPress, one of the early sites used for beta testing and developing many of the popular WordPress Plugins of today. It works like a blog, contains personal and professional information like a blog, and the current design is more "bloggy" than I would like.

So I'm curious. What is your definition of blog.

And thanks for the information. Technorati doesn't have the power it once had so I haven't paid any attention to the numbers for a very long time. Interesting to see.

The Wikipedia definition is pretty good: "regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse chronological order"

"Taking your camera on the road" lacks dates; that automatically means "not a blog" for me. The articles may in fact be reverse chron, but with no dates it's impossible to tell.

In general: there are lots of gray areas, which is one reason we have the "?" label -- though we haven't even put all the questionable cases there. On the one hand, Huffington Post is now mostly just an online newspaper, but gets grandfathered in. On the other side, we don't consider podcasts (audio or video) to be blogs -- though reasonable people may disagree.

Anyway, thanks for the comment.
