Top female bloggers: Society & Culture blogs

As a followup to the recent BlogHer conference, here's the first in our series of posts on top female bloggers, organized by category. Although every metric has problems and limitations, we used Technorati rank to select and sort the blogs.

Up first: our Society & Culture category covers mom blogs, food blogs, pop culture, feminism and more. The largest category is "Personal"; we welcome suggestions for a more specific category for any of these blogs.

Some of this research was started several months ago, and there are several sources that we haven't had a chance to tap. Also, many blogs lack an "about" page or similar information about who is behind a blog. I'm sure we're missing lots of blogs and bloggers. Comments are open, and my email address is on our about page.

Thanks for listing us! Can you please update to show that our is named, "Cupcakes Take The Cake". "All Cupcakes All The Time is our tagline.

How about a "political" or "politics and news" category? :) The widget that BlogHer has available for female political bloggers might be of some help.

Thanks for doing this - very interesting.

Thank you for the listing, and for the link.
My blog is mostly politics, specifically Latin American and American politics and how they relate to each other.

Thank you for compiling this--I find the categories interesting too as so many cross over into several areas.

Nichelle: fixed; sorry about that.

Jill: coming soon

Fausta: changed ... so your blog will appear again soon

Michelle: glad you like it. Picking a single category for each blog fails to do justice to the diverse content of most blogs. However, with so many great blogs out there, I think that some sort of focus can be helpful.

This is so interesting, thank you

Hey! Thanks for including Sweetney! I think I'd fit better in "Personal" or "Mom Blogging" based on the actual content (err, it's a personal/mom blog). In any case, Thanks! -Tracey

The "personal" category is way too broad. For example, Meryl Yourish primarily writes about Jewish and Israeli affairs. I agree that you need a current affairs or politics/news category.

Wow, I never expected to see me there!! Thanks for that... I just happened to surf my way in here to see this!
